Stamford American School Hong Kong (Stamford) is a through-train school for students ages 5 to 18 where graduates can receive both an American and IB Diploma* which allows them access to top universities world-wide.
To prepare children for the future of work, Stamford uses an inquiry-based approach coupled with rigorous American academic standards. Our innovative approach to learning also includes our STEMinn program (science, technology, engineering, math and innovation) which develops skills needed for the 21st century through innovative projects and the lastest technology. Children develop creativity, curiosity and resilience and their progress in core subjects is tracked by continuous assessment against rigorous math, literacy and science standards. The core curriculum also includes athletics, visual & performing arts, and a daily leveled Mandarin, Spanish or bilingual program (Chinese and English) to develop global citizens. English support is available for students who require it.
Stamford goes a step beyond to ensure all children enjoy their day at school, because when children feel safe and happy at school there is no limit to what they can achieve. From age 5 until graduation, as part of Stamford’s core curriculum, students learn socio-emotional skills through our Second Step Program. Second Step is a social-emotional program that develops empathy, emotional regulation, and conflict management, giving children the necessary skills and confidence to handle challenging social situations such as bullying.
These critical life skills support post-secondary success and ensure our students are able to handle obstacles in and out of the classroom. Our well-being team also includes nurses, counselors and a dedicated Health and Safety Principal to ensure that children receive the emotional and physical care throughout their school life.
