Geneva Business School

A leading private institution in Switzerland delivers quality business education

Geneva Business School (GBS) is part of an established group of learning institutions in Switzerland. For instance, St. George’s School in Clarens, which is a GBS member, is the first English school in Switzerland since 1927.

GBS offers bachelor and master’s programmes in the fields of business administration and finance, with specialisations of business administration in areas: international management, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, international relations, hospitality management, and sports management and marketing.

Admission criteria

The main admissions criteria are proof of sufficient English level (IELTS score 5.5/TOEFL IBT 67 for bachelor’s programmes applicants and IELTS score 6.0/TOEFL IBT 71 for master’s programmes applicants). For bachelor’s programmes applicants, the school also requires the senior secondary school diploma, whereas master’s programmes applicants need a bachelor’s degree for admission.

The school offers pre-bachelor and pre-master’s courses for students who either do not have a sufficient level of English or need specialised preparatory business classes. GBS can accept up to one year of studies if students transfer from university with international recognition and accreditations, as well as the same or closely-related major.

Student matters

International management, finance and hospitality management are the most popular programs among students from Hong Kong mainland China. With the school policy not allowing the student number exceeding 200, GBS has two students from Hong Kong and four from Mainland China.

GBS has student relations officers and an admission team that can help students with practical aspects such as visa application and its follow-up, accommodation, insurance and so on.“If students apply at least one month prior to their arrival, the school will arrange for them accommodation, as the university owns and rents apartments in Geneva for students,” says Alina Abdrakhmanova, student relations officer of GBS Geneva Campus

Employment opportunities

Students can be engaged in part-time employment up to 20 hours per week and have internships. The school’s Career Office also helps students seek internships, starting from CV and motivation letter to actual application. GBS students gain internship experiences at the United Nations, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Nissan, to name but a few. Around 90 percent of GBS graduates security a job or continues their education within the next three months after graduation.

GBS’s distinctions

GBS differentiates from other Swiss colleges and universities in a number of aspects. “We have small classes to allow students understand material better and have direct contact with a professor. We try to help students with our practical approach – most of our classes run in form of projects, case-studies and group works. Our faculty accumulates diverse experiences in business.  Most of them are currently senior level professionals. GBS also has campuses in cities around the world: Barcelona, Moscow and Geneva.

GBS tends to focus on MBA and Master of Science in International Finance and Islamic Finance in the postgraduate level.

Students can transfer from campus to campus. Our full student support includes but not limited to accommodation, visa, insurance and academic follow-up.

Accreditations and partnership

GBS have three principal accreditations: IACBE, ECBE and EDUQUA, as well as other accreditations, CHEA and AASBI. The school is also registered with the Swiss Private School Register.

The school has formed strong ties with partner universities that meet the equivalent standards of quality education GBS has been maintaining. Its network has consistently grown over the years. GBS also develop exchange programmes and dual degrees with universities and business schools that share the university’s passion for quality education.

“Switzerland itself is well-known for being the country of high standards and center of top hospitality and financial system.  We provide our students with opportunities not only to learn but experience the Swiss know-how, so that they can apply their knowledge in Switzerland and abroad, upon graduation,” adds Abdrakhmanova.
