The organisation which administer IELTS had implemented the biometric systems globally to verify the identify of each test taker. This security protocols incorporate finger scans and high-resolution photography on the spot on test date before entering the test room. The high-resolution photograph captured for each test taker will appear on their Test Report Form (TRF).
Warning, if you want to look good and presentable in a photograph on your Test Report Form that may be used many times for whatever purposes in future, then don't forget to bring along your make-up kit for shooting other than what was required for test purpose, for guys, have a comb at least, or find the toilet and clean up your oily face to get ready, assuming you will wear something proper to avoid looking like a fugitive in the photograph. Moreover, the camera has high-resolution (assuming 10 mp and above), it should also capture all your pimples and freckles on your face, among other features. Basically, to look good for this possibly once-in-a-lifetime event, you just need to have enough sleep before the test day, be there much earlier, relax with good mood and confidence.
According to John Belleville, IELTS Director at IDP IELTS, the IELTS approach to test security is proactive. This tailor-made biometric systems are in use from the test taker’s arrival on test day right through to completion of their test. Admissions staff can access the IELTS verification service website to see for themselves the high resolution photograph of each person who attended the test. Presumably and supposedly, not anybody can view this high-resolution photograph on the web, and you may scan or photocopy your test report that reduce the resolution to turn foggy like those portraits taken in studio when you submit it to identified parties only. So you need not feel bad if it is not the best-looking photograph that should reflect your actual look in person.
John Gildea, Head of IELTS at the British Council, says, “All necessary steps have been taken to comply with privacy laws and the framework of each local jurisdiction. IELTS is available in more than 900 locations across 130 countries, so the British Council and IDP IELTS have taken a deliberate and respectful approach to implementing these new biometric measures in a manner that is in keeping with the integrity of the IELTS test.”
